As part of the Transformative Territories project, ArtMill will host its Creative Assembly over two stages: a two-day working session for registered participants (15–16 August), followed by a public Open Mill Day on 23 August. This event explores the central research question: “How can transformative artistic practice act as a bridge between the ecological and social to impact cultural understanding of interspecies coexistence and offer healing to communities of struggle and more-than-human collaborators?”
Through embodied engagement, creative research, and deep listening to the land, the ArtMill Creative Assembly aims to generate new ways of thinking and feeling-with the world. By bridging ecological and social practices through art, this Assembly contributes to healing landscapes—both physical and symbolic—and cultivating a more inclusive, interspecies future.
The first part of the Assembly will bring together artists, researchers, local stakeholders and partners for two days of deep engagement through participatory artistic practices, collective reflection, and site-based experimentation. The second phase—open to the public—will showcase the results: artworks, site transformations, and methodologies developed collaboratively during the residency.
Participants will engage with a range of interdisciplinary and somatic practices including eco-somatic workshops, forest therapy, mapping exercises, and speculative visioning. Through these approaches, the Assembly aims to generate not only artistic outcomes but also new tools for imagining alternative relationships between humans and the more-than-human world.
Throughout the Assembly, ArtMill will activate its site as a Living Lab, combining artistic and ecological approaches through consensus-based processes. Activities will include:
- Transdisciplinary roundtables focused on collective decision-making and the co-creation of a shared mindmap titled “Social Connectivity Over Territorial Belonging”.
- Eco-somatic and site-based practices, such as forest therapy (led by Jonáš Jauernig), sonic walks, and movement improvisation (with Camilla Przystawski).
- Participatory design of the Inter-Species Refuge, a long-term agroforestry initiative including food forests, beehives, a greenhouse, and shared spaces.
- “Dream Walks” and workshops on radical futurism (led by Gabriela Benish-Kalná), using visualisation and collective mapping to reimagine shared futures.
Artistic contributions will include:
- Ancestral Weaving performance by Lwrds Duniam
- Critical Gardens installation by Yeva Kupchenko
- 3D Mapping and Visualisation by Jakub Tulinger
- Inter-Species Cohabitation Mural by Fuad Alymani
The site itself will undergo tangible transformation during the Assembly, with collaborative construction of the Klima2050 greenhouse, planting of agroecological elements, and participatory landscape design.
Open Mill Day – 23 August 2025
The Assembly culminates in a public day of celebration, dialogue and shared learning. Visitors will be invited to:
- Join a guided tour of the transformed site and discover the artworks and installations
